The announcement, which came weeks short of its initial release, bewildered and confused the games audience.
“I was planning on buying the game on my next-gen system, the Wii U. You have no idea how disappointed I am right now, especially since I loved all of the Assassin’s Creed III DLC,” said Kennith Wayward, an Assassin’s Creed fan.
With strong sales for the Wii U and all of its games, many see this as a major blow to a console which has been received so well.
Government officials have even responded to the national tragedy with Senator John Boehner saying, “I thought you were referring to the government shutdown. What kind of malarkey is this?”
Despite DLC not making it to the console, Ubisoft has stated they have high hopes for the Wii U version. A company spokesperson said, “We think it’ll sell extremely great. Somewhere around GTA V numbers.”
It remains to be seen if our country will be able to recover from the shocking news. For now, Assassin’s Creed IV finds its way into store shelves this October.
